No Cats in Our Beds

A Manifesto

Clearly, every anipal – cat, dog, rabbit, etc – needs a place to rest and sleep; the ideal place being, of course, a bed.

Now, for those anipals that get to sleep on the human bed all the time, I say “more power to you, my brofurs and sistfurs” however, there are many anipals that do not get afforded such luxury. In most cases, anipals get their own bed – whether it’s a crate, a pillow bed or one of the fancier pet beds – it is still supposed to be their own, personal sleeping space. But dilemmas do arise when there is more than one anipal living in a home.

The first question we should ask ourselves is “Should anipals of the same species have to share a bed?” Well, the best answer would be ‘no’ because they each should be afforded their own space. But hey…we dogs do like to cuddle every now and again and we all did once share sleeping space with our littermates, so it could be acceptable to share a bed.

That said, if two small breed dogs are sharing a bed…that bed better be made for a large breed dog so there is ample stretching and splaying room. In addition, if two larger breed dogs are sharing a bed, the humans better get them a human twin mattress to share for the same reasons – stretching and splaying.

Then we come to the second question, “Should anipals of different species have to share one bed?” Prime example: should @AnnieBella021 have to share her bed with Smidge the cat? I think we can all agree on this answer…absolutely not!

Why ‘No Cats in Our Beds’?

1. Cats are small enough and limber enough to sleep anywhere; they don’t even need a bed.

2. Cats don’t know how to share. If you let a cat in your bed once, it will think it owns your bed and you will never be able get yourself back in there.

3. Cats like to scratch and tear things and what dog wants to sleep in a torn up bed.

4. Cats walk through ‘sprinkles’ in their box which can get stuck on their paws. They get in your bed, bring the ‘sprinkles’ and then you are sleeping in kitty litter!

5. Cats eat stinky food like fish and then wash themselves with fish breath. You cuddle with a cat, next thing you know you stink (like cat fish breath) and the humans are throwing you in the bath…again!
