Weekend Vacation

Tomorrow we are starting our long weekend by driving South to Islamorada in the Florida Keys. We will be staying at Ma’s sister’s house, which is a very nice and only a couple steps away from the Florida Bay.

We are taking this long weekend to celebrate Ma and Dad’s five year wedding anniversary…which incidentally, is today!

Folks in Florida may remember this day five years ago as yet another day they went without power or water due to Hurricane Wilma…thankfully we had water, but we didn’t have power! Hurricane Wilma had come from the Gulf of Mexico and tore right across the State on October 24, 2005…only four days before Ma and Dad’s wedding. Needless to say, Ma and Dad’s wedding was cancelled…poor Ma!

There was no big wedding but they did sneak down to the church on October 28, 2005 and got married right quick with only a handful of witnesses. They then headed off to Hawaii (where there was power) for their honeymoon. When they got home two weeks later, they started finding a new place to have the wedding reception.

Anyway, Grandma sent them the bestest anniversary card today! See!

I am glad I get to go away for a long weekend with Ma and Dad for their anniversary! I’ve been to my aunt’s house before and I do love all the different anipals that live down in the Keys. I will be sure to take lots of pictures!

I better get packing…I hope I don't forget anything...
