Yesterday: My Busy Day

Yesterday was a very busy day for this dog so I didn't get to write about the great walk/stalk/hunt I went on with Ma yesterday morning. But more on that walk/stalk/hunt in a minute, because what kept me so busy was quite a lot of fun!

I had been on Twitter talking with some of my good pals when I told one pal, Benson (@bensonthehusky) I thought his nickname should be 'Naughty by Nature' - because he does swear that he is really, really naughty! Guess what?! He loved it! I then asked Mr. 'Naughty by Nature' if he was 'down with O.P.P.' but you know what - Benson didn't know that song! Can you believe that?! He did, however find the music video on YouTube which then made him BOL.

My pal, Benson
I was trying to think how Benson would be 'down with O.P.P.' (Other Puppies...) and I got some help from another good Twitter pal, Gus (@DevilOnIceSkate). We started playing MadLibs (remember that game?!?) to fill in the blank.

Here, give it a try: Other Puppies' P______

Gus came up with some good ones: Pork chops, Pull-toys, People, Pussycats and of course, Poop. So then...I decided to re-write the lyrics for Benson, which is what kept me really busy for most of the afternoon! Benson did write a post about it on his blog My Pooka - you can listen to the original song and see the re-write here.

Now, back to my walk/stalk/hunt from yesterday.  Ma and I did go for a nice big walk around the neighborhood when we came across this clue:

"It's a clue! Let the hunt begin!"
Yep, a feather.  You know, where there are feathers there are usually birds...and this feather was from a White Ibis.  They are wading birds and they are about two feet tall with white feathers and reddish-orange bills (and sometimes reddish-orange legs).  Here is a close-up of one:

After scenting the feather, I was determined to find the flock of White Ibis.  I did look everywhere: along the sidewalk, under the bushes, behind trees...

"I don't see or smell them under here..."
Until at last, I found them! They were in the field back near the school by our house.

"Found 'em!!"
This is about as close as I can get before I start barking my fool-head off and scare the birds away.  Do you see the brown one?  That's a young white ibis...they are a bit silly looking when they are young.  Anyway, we did get closer and the flock flew away, but boy it was a great walk/stalk/hunt while it lasted!

Benson really likes his new nickname. He says huskies tend to be naughty doggies. I dont know if its true, but it did make for some song writing fun!

  9. Just dropping in to say thanks for the follow! And very cool pic of an ibis. (I spend lots of my summer days at Tybee Island in Georgia...I wonder if I've seen an ibis-and didn't know it!?)

  10. Hiya Oscar,

We tried to leave a comment before but it didn't work =-/

Charlie and I wanted to thank you lots and lots for stopping over and sending us love during our rough time. It really means a whole lot.

Charlie prefers to chase land critters. He seems to think that he has a better chance of catching them if they can't fly away. Unfortunately (well, fortunately for the critters), ten years later, his theory is still unproven.

  11. Cathy: Thanks for coming by and for the follow! I look forward to reading your blog posts and (hopefully) more of your comments here! You may have seen an Ibis!! Best to keep on the lookout next time your at Tybee Island!

Ettel: Glad to see you 'out and about'! I do hope Charlie is doing better. I do like chasing land critters too...unfortunately, Ma doesnt let me catch anything, so I dont know if they are easier to nab! BOL
