The Poet, Doesn't Know It (All) Contest

As you may already know from my previous post...and the many other blog posts that have been written in the past several days... March 15 is Help Petfinder Adopt the Internet Day - a day completely devoted to getting the word out there about pet adoption and helping homeless pets find homes. I have already started participating: I took the Pledge to Help Pets and I have placed the Petfinder badge on my blog!

I am currently working on my blog post for the March 15 Blog Hop - an Oscar de Wilde original poem - which will be a pet's eye view of pet adoption. I was immediately inspired when I read about the 'Adopt the Internet' day and I have been writing (and re-writing) ever since.

That said, I have come to the conclusion that this poet doesn't know it all when it comes to pet adoption! I mean, honestly, I am just one dog and there can be so many points of view on the subject of pet adoption...so, I have come up with 'The Poet, Doesn't Know It (All)' Contest.

It's a simple contest, really - and the winner gets to have their 'lines' placed in my Oscar de Wilde original poem for the March 15 blog hop and a co-author credit for the poem (there also may be some treats mailed to the winner as well - we love mailing treats!).

All you need to do is leave your original 'lines' for the poem as a pawprint (comment) on this post.

  • Maximum four lines per entry;
  • Use any meter and rhyme scheme you want (lines do not have to rhyme);
  • Lines can be about your adoption or pet adoption in general; and
  • Remember to express how you FEEL in your lines.
That's it. I know there is a LOT of talent in those little paws of yours so, I am looking forward to reading every entry and seeing which of you will win!

Ready...set...WRITE!

  8. Trixie was a rescueddog, so she wrote these four lines for you!

    "My life used to be such a sad one.
    I was so hungry, cold and alone.
    You changed all that when you gave me your love.
    Thank you for bringing me home."
