The online contest is called "America's Favorite Animal Shelter" and it is being sponsored by Care2.com, ASPCA and Adopt-a-Pet. The Grand Prize winning shelter will receive $15,000 but there will be weekly prizes of $500 as well, for participating shelters (chosen at random) for the duration of the contest. In addition, the second and third place shelters will each receive $10,000!!! Think of all the homeless pets that your favorite shelter can care for if they won any of these prizes!

The contest runs from now until July 10 (hey...that's Ma's birthday!) so you have plenty of time to vote and recruit more friends to support animal shelters across the country.
