Being Nosy & Petfinder's "Less Adoptable" Pets Day 2

I know I promised to highlight "less adoptable" pets all week and I already missed a day!  It was not intentional; things just got a little busy here in the neighborhood.

Here's the current talk-of-the-town (OK, not the town...just the block).

We have all been hearing dogs barking all day.  ALL day for the past couple of days.  The dogs do not sound like they are outside in someone's yard but they do not sound like they are inside someone's house either.  We heard them again first thing this morning when we started on our morning walk.

So, being the nosy neighbor I am (Ma does get embarrassed sometimes), we walked toward the sound of the dogs.  Down the block and around the corner we finally stopped in front of a house where you could hear the dogs perfectly...barking inside the garage!

Now, we didn't want to believe that the dogs were actually being kept in the garage.  After all, we live in South Florida and it can get pretty hot inside the garage with the door closed.  Never mind all the yucky (and potentially poisonous stuff) that people store in the garage...we just didn't want to believe it.

Since it seemed that no one was home at the house, we continued on our walk.  We then bumped into Oatmeal (one of my girlfriends here in the neighborhood) and her mom...and her mom said she had heard the dogs barking from the garage too and for longer than a few days!

So, Oatmeal and I (and our moms) have decided that we will begin investigations.  We are going to walk at different times of the day to see if anyone ever opens the garage so we can see in!  We are hoping that these people are NOT leaving their dogs to wander around the garage all day when they are not home.

Anyway, I will be sure to keep you all updated on the progress of our investigations.  We are wondering too what you all think we should do if we find out the poor dogs are in the garage!  Suggestions are appreciated!

Now...for two more "less adoptable" dogs in my area!

These two are great dogs because like me, they are TERRIERS!  I hope someone will adopt them and give them a forever home.

(Remember: you can click on the name to visit their Petfinder page!)

Lexie: a Rat Terrier who has limited vision but LOVES people!

Calvin: a Terrier mix who was a stray and loves adults (but is afraid of children)

Thanks pals!

  1. Lexie and Calvin sure are cute. Paws crossed that they find forever homes soon.

As for the dogs in the garage, we hope they aren't being left in there all day. I suppose talking to the owners (or at least the neighbors) is out of the question?

  2. Hey Oz, Jet here.

OMD, this does not bode well for a happy ending dude. We live 2 counties south of you and getting confined to the garage is bad news. Hmmmm... if you live in an area with friendly police officers, you can call in a non-emergency and see if they will talk to humans. Or, call the city government and do the same.
