The first one was actually pretty strange and you can read
the full article here:
A South Florida homeowner shot a naked intruder who was
caught choking the family dog. (Yes, you
read that right.) There was no
explanation as to why the naked guy broke into the house and choked the dog,
however when confronted by the homeowner, the naked man tried to BITE the
owner. (Is anyone thinking another zombie
in Miami?) The naked man faces several
charges including animal cruelty.
The next one happened in my own town and you can read the article here:
There was a fire at a cosmetology school in a shed on the school property. Inside the shed? Dozens of cats. The fire department rescued about 30 cats from the blaze. My questions: why does a cosmetology school have a shed full of cats? I am not sure I want to know the answer.
The last one really burns my butt and you can read the full article here:
A Siberian Lynx passed away because it was owned by people who had NO BUSINESS keeping it as a pet! The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rescued it from a home where it lived in a cage without clean drinking water and where it was SUFFERING from improper care with skin and eye infections and kidney and liver failure. Unfortunately, it couldn't recover and it went Over the Rainbow Bridge.
Now, if I was a superstitious dog, I would be asking myself if all this bad stuff is in any way related to the fact that it is 1/3/13.
Because I see not one, but TWO number 13s in there! I am no triskaidekaphobe (someone who fears the number 13) but if I were...I would wonder...(and I'd be hiding out the day to be safe!)
But did you know that some people do not believe the number 13 is "bad luck"? They actually believe it is good luck. Wouldn't that just be the best - if the number 13 was good luck - because then this whole year would be the best one yet!
Oh, now I am thinking...was there any "good luck" in the stories above? If there were good luck in those stories, I think it would be:
- that there is a dog whose owner loves him SO much that he is willing to confront a crazy, naked intruder to save his beloved family pet
- that there are 30 cats that were saved from burning to death in a fire
- and that there is one big cat who was given a last hope and then the opportunity to pass with dignity by some very caring people.
Maybe, 2013 is the year to try and find the "good" in things.
I read those stories Oz and all I can think is "Only in Florida" We do seem to collect the crazies here...I think I'll adopt your point of view and see the good in each of those, and will try to carry that forward with me...I'd like to think that 2013 will bring better days for us all
ReplyDeleteIt's like those Flori-DUH news stories - only in Florida. Why all the crazies think our state is the place they should call home is beyond me.
DeleteI think for 2013, I am really going to try and see the good...even if something is bad. I hope for better days for us all too, my friend.
Oh, I like the way you think Oz!! I'm a half full kind of pup 80% of the time, so I'm inclined to think the same as you! :-) I hope that 2013 kicks butt! Crazy stories though!!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the other 20% of the time?? BOL I hope 2013 kicks butt too! (Florida is full of crazy people doing crazy things!)
DeleteThose 20% are all attributed to not getting treats when I feel like it!!! :-D
DeleteBOL!!! You are hilarious...but that is so understandable!
DeleteOz, I love your outlook on this. We always try to see the positive in things, too, even when it's hard to find. No wonder we like you!
ReplyDeleteBunny
Bunny, doesn't just feel a little bit better to find the good in something? There's so much ickiness in the world sometimes...
DeleteWhat a lovely outlook! There's a lot to be said for finding the silver lining.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Once I looked at the positives, I felt so much better. Yes, those may be crazy stories and you gotta wonder about people sometimes...but at least those animals got another shot at life
DeleteYups, that's the way Oz, 'Glass half full' and all. I don't even want to tell ya about an awful thing that happened here in the Bay Area that made Ma physically sick. A woman pulled over her car to find her phone that she dropped. When she got out to go to the passenger side door to look for it, a man walked up behind her and demanded her money. She had only five dollars. She gave it to him. He was pissed it wasn't enough. Her small dog was in the back seat barking at the nutjob. He grabbed her small dog, and threw it into traffic. The dog did not survive. The woman had gotten her dog as a rescue dog just a couple of years ago to help her through a breakup, and the dog was her best friend. She is heartbroken, and devistated. Luckily, there was surveliance, and there were some witnesses, and they have it all over the news trying to find the scumbag. There is now a 6 thousand dollar reward to find the *rick. Sorry, this one makes Ma leak everytime it is on the news here. Your stories just reminded her of it again. They are everywhere Oz. Fortunatly, there are more of US that care dearly for animals, and will do everything in our power to help. Good over Evil. That is my hope for 2013.
ReplyDeleteOh, Ruby...this is one of the saddest, and most horrific, stories I have ever heard. We are all teary-eyed reading it. I hope they find that A*****e!
DeleteIt's unfortunate, but yes it does seem they are everywhere. Good over Evil is right!
