Epic Pet Health Supplements - Product Review, Interview & Opportunity for 2

I was recently contacted by Amy Swartz DC, owner of Epic Pet Health about trying one of her Natural Supplements.  After looking at the variety of supplements on her website, I decided I would give the Skin supplement a try.

About Skin
This supplement promotes healthy skin and coats for dogs and cats.  It also relieves scratchy, dry skin.

Chewed and raw paw
In case you don't know, I have suffered on-and-off with skin allergies for some time.  My first vet said that I was probably allergic to grass since the itchy rash was always on my paws (and also on my tummy and legs).  He told Ma to keep me out of the grass.

Huh?!?  Um, I'm a dog and the grass is where I do my 'business'...
never mind that the grass is where I do a lot of my lizard and bunny hunting!

Itchy & raw
Anyway, the rash is always itchy and so, I scratch and chew it raw.  My new vet has tried numerous remedies which have worked until...they stop working.  Which is why Ma and I decided to give the Skin supplement a try.

Amy sent me the Skin supplement and she was nice enough to toss in the Repair supplement as well.

About Repair
Repair helps boost the body's immune response and relieves aches, pains and inflammation.  It is good for injury recovery and supports the body during illness.

Let me say...Ma and I were completely skeptical that the Skin supplement would work!  Nothing has gotten rid of this itchy rash for long.  When we opened the supplements, Ma sprayed it in her hand and sniffed it (I have trained her well, no?!?).  It looks and smells like water so we thought "this is never going to work".

Dog, we were wrong.

Almost immediately the Skin relieved the itching.  Ma noticed that I was scratching and chewing a lot less.  We followed the directions and sprayed it on my rash as well as on my food and water (since it has no odor, I eat it right up).

Redness & Itch gone
We used Skin for one week, without the Repair.  Once we added the Repair though, the rash really started healing up.  It's been two weeks now and great dawg, my rash is almost gone.

Surprised at the efficacy, I asked Amy about the "secret ingredient" in the supplements.  She got all Kung Fu Panda on me, told me "there IS no secret ingredient" and said:

Amy:  All the supplements are a combination of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, and zinc in filtered water with electrolytes, such as Vitamin A, B, C, D, E and oxygen added. The supplements are put on the food, water, and body so that they that they are simultaneously being absorbed by the skin, nasal passages, digestive tract, and body tissues which gets results faster.  I believe they are effective because they are diluted like a homeopathic remedy so the body can use them right away and not have to wait for the digestive tract to break down a pill.

So, I'm thinking Amy must be some super-duper vet or chemist, right?!  Wrong again.  Then how does a Civil Engineer and Holistic Chiropractor begin developing pet supplements?

Amy:  It was for the love of my dog! Actually, the first supplement I made was for my best friend’s dog who was in kidney failure.  They live 2000 miles away and I wanted to do something so I made him a supplement to help with pain.  The dog died before I could mail the supplement, so I gave it to my dog.  In less than 24 hours my dog’s arthritis had eased up so much that he was doing laps around my house for 45 minutes at a time.  He was obviously feeling a lot better, so I started making supplements for other conditions.  The supplements are all human grade and I take them all too.

Wow!  When you first started developing these supplements for your dog, did you know right away that they would work?

Amy:  I knew they would work if I created the right formula  because of his profoundly positive reaction to the pain relief supplement that I first  gave him.  This is where the civil engineering and chiropractic comes in.  I have a good understanding of anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics that I apply when formulating the supplements.  Instead of trying to fix one problem I try to help the entire body recover so the immune system is better prepared if the illness or injury occurs again.

What are the most popular supplements?

Amy:  Happy is very popular with rescued pets, pets who have lost family members and are grieving, and pets who suffer separation anxiety.  A lot of animals have skin and allergy issues, so the Skin and Clear formulas are popular for those issues.  Calm is popular for puppies and kittens with more energy than the owner knows what to do with!  Calm is very relaxing and relieves stress too.  One of my favorite supplements is Repair.  It can be used for anything from skin issues, to illness and injury.  For chronic problems, Repair works great when paired with other supplements such as Skin.  It’s the extra boost the pet needs to get back to normal.

Where can pet parents purchase these supplements?

Amy:  The supplements can be purchased on Amazon.  (By the way, that Amazon link will take you to all the supplements!)

There are about 25 supplements for sale at Amazon and each one targets a specific issue.  Skin is the supplement of the month for May which means there is a 15% discount (for those of you with skin itchies like me!).

You may be saying to yourself, "Terrierific!  This has been a good (and long) post with an interesting product review and an interview with Amy Swartz DC, owner of Epic Pet Health Natural Supplements but what, Great Oz, is the 'Opportunity for 2'??"

Good question!

The "Opportunity for 2" is for two (2) pet bloggers who are willing to do their own Product Review.

You can get an Epic Pet Health Natural Supplement of your choice to use and to review on your blog!  If you are interested, please leave a comment with which supplement you would choose and why, and enter the Rafflecopter below.  (The 2 winners will be announced on Monday, May 13, 2013.)

  2. You found something that really worked for you and stopped your itching? Oz that is totally pawsome! You know that I get itchies too, mostly from flea allergies so I'd like to test out the Immune formula...I got a flea bite last week and itched myself silly (well, sillier than usual) so this would be a great product for me

    1. Yes Giz, it really works. We were so surprised, because nothing works for long. These supplement can be taken regularly...for as long as you need them...and with allergies, that may be forever.

  4. hmm, the skin one sounds interesting. Charlie has been itching a lot as of late, The skin supplement may be a good one to try, but having the repair supplement may be extremely valuable on the trail. Was this on the pads of the paws that were turning raw or the skin near the paw?

  10. Hi, what a great opportunity. We have a blog shespeaksbark.com where brothers Bear & Scooter share their tips and tricks to modern dog care & ownership. Bear suffers from skin allergies similar to you, so we'd love to give that Skin or Repair (or both!) a try to see if it's a fix for our itches too!!!

    1. I think all the supplements contain a combination of the ingredients listed in the interview section of this post. I can't imagine there would be anything else in there since it is clear and doesn't smell like anything but water.
