I have returned from the wilds of Florida (if you can call camping in a State Park the "wilds" of Florida, that is).
I had a great time and I have A LOT to share about my camping adventure including photos and some pawesome videos. Unfortunately, all of those photos and videos still need to be uploaded to the computer so you will have to wait until tomorrow to hear/read about my adventure.
In the meantime, while I was away I got an email from The Uncommon Dog about how dogs became humans' best friends. And do you know what it said? It said:
- Dogs are descended from wild wolves - (I just returned from the wild!)
- Wolves followed their noses to humans' camps - (I always lead us back to our campsite after hiking - "the nose knows the way")
- Wolves earliest service to humans was as an alarm to danger - (I bark at all critters passing or entering our campsite day and night - okay, except the night the raccoon got into the cooler but I was really tired and in a dead sleep).
The people at The Uncommon Dog made a nifty infographic called "how dogs became our best friends". Check it out and let me know if you see yourself in any of the information!

Hey welcome back Oz :) I think it's pretty interesting with the human mother thing! I think a lot of women today treat their dogs as children, so it makes perfect sense.

DeleteGotta love the camping thing - we keep trying to get Mom to go but she mumbles a lot about being to old to sleep on the ground - hmmmffff we do it all the time!
ReplyDeleteGuys, just tell your mom to get a campsite that is a RV/Tent site as those sites have water and electric hookup for RVs. Then have her pack an extension cord and the Aerobed (full size, the one as high as a regular bed) and whammo! You are glamping in the Oz style. BOL
DeleteI look forward to your camp stories. I did know about the wolf/dog connection. I took a college course on it a few years ago. It amazes me that all dogs have the same DNA as wolves. Coyote have a different DNA! Thanks for this unique post! ~xo~

Christie....the Everglades is a National Park...well most of it and dogs are not allowed in a National Park. I was up by St. Augustine!
