I only found out recently because several of the friends I met at BarkWorld are Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs and Emotional Support Animals.
Of course, I didn't really know the difference between a Service Dog, a Therapy Dog and an Emotional Support Animal before I met my good friends Carma Poodale, Pepper Pom and Garth Riley. Now I am starting to understand the BIG differences in the work that they perform.

Ringy Dingy ~ Oh Oz The Great and Powerful, thank you for talking about us, I am a therapy dog. Lee likes to call me a reader dog because I go to the library reading room to help little tikes to not be embarrassed when they read. I snuggle right up in their laps or besides them while they struggle with phonetics and learning to pronounce the words.

Sir William, I did not realize you were a Therapy Dog as well! That is wonderful news; Therapy work is so important. I wish I had the temperament to be a Therapy Dog, so I could read with the little tykes (because I love the little humans so much), but alas...I have too much terrier in me. BOL Ma says it is enough that I am her boy because I make her smile every day.

DeleteGreat post, Oz! I get too excited when I meet a human I know (even though Mom makes me sit/stay) so I stick to agility. We have to applaud all those that are service or therapy dogs.

You provide more than one service, Sage...you make mom happy too! I think that should count even though it doesn't make us "service" dogs. BOL

DeleteMy Reilly is both a Service and Therapy Dog. I taught him sign language so he could interact with the kids at the a deaf school we use to visit.

ReplyDeleteI see lots of service dogs where I work. I always think of my own 2 boys whenever I see them and wish that I could bring them with me to work and school. That's really cool that they have a special day all their own! I had no idea!
