I know I have said this several times, but I am going to say
it again. Ma is always on the hunt for
healthier treats for me now that I am on a raw diet. She just cannot see feeding a high-quality
food and ruining it with some junky treats.
That is why I am so glad Ma signed us up for the Chewy.com
Blogger Program. When the options come
in each month and Ma sees a healthy treat that we haven't tried (or heard of,
sometimes...sheesh!) then she will pick that one for me to taste-test. If we are both happy with the product, then
from taste-test on, we are buying those treats.
This month, my Best Friend at Chewy.com, Andrew, sent me
Nature's Variety Instinct Grain-Free Biscuits in...Rabbit Meal & Apples
flavor (which is why he is now my best friend).
You know I could barely contain myself for this taste-test.
So, before I tell you how delicious these biscuits are, let
me tell you why Ma chose these for us to try.
These oven-baked,
made in the U.S.A. biscuits contain no corn, no wheat, no soy and are both
grain-free and gluten-free. They include
some prebiotics and probiotics. Ma was
happy because Nature's Variety foods get between 4 and 5-star ratings on
DogFoodAdvisor.com so she hopes that translates into a company that also makes
healthy treats.
Ingredients
Rabbit Meal, Tapioca, Garbanzo Bean Flour, Apples, Pork Fat
(preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Pumpkin seeds,
Montomorillonite Clay, Natural Vegetable Flavor, Dried Egg Whites, Ginger,
Inulin, Rosemary Extract, Dried Bacillus coagulens
Now, I know some of you are asking...Montomorillonite
Clay? Yes and you know we checked that
out. According to DogFoodAdvisor.com,
Montomorillonite Clay is a naturally occurring compound rich in trace minerals
and has been approved for use in USDA Organic Certified products. It can be beneficial in controlling diarrhea
and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (great dawg, POOP comes up in so many posts
lately!).
All the other ingredients are REAL ingredients, which is
something we always look for in a healthy treat or food.
The Test
OK...these biscuits smell divine. To sit and pose before the package was even
open was killing me! However, I knew if
I could sit long enough so Ma could get a good photo the package would finally
be opened and opened it was!
Ma thought the Nature's Variety Instinct Biscuits were a bit
stinky...but what does she know! It was
the aroma of Rabbit and I loved every breath of it.
These biscuits are a perfect size and have just the right
amount of crunch. It may look like I ate
one for the photo shoot...but I ate the first one so fast that Ma couldn't get
any good photos (hint, hint pals). I got
a second one to get the good photos. BOL
I definitely enjoyed the Nature's Variety InstinctGrain-Free Biscuits with Rabbit Meal & Apples. Ma definitely thinks they can go on the
quality treat list for future purchase.
If you love Rabbit, then I highly recommend Nature's Variety Instinct Grain-Free Biscuits with Rabbit Meal & Apples. I give them the "Paw of Approval"
for using real ingredients, being healthy and tasting delicious.

Wow Oz you are doing well on the treat front. I just get the same old. Nothing new for us ... big sigh. Have a terrific Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly

Rabbit! That's something I've yet to get for the pups. Sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteOh.My.Dog. They will love it. I have cat friends who love Rabbit too.
DeleteSounds like a great product, we'll have to check it out! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAny time, my friend.
DeleteI have been on Natures Variety Instinct Limt Ing, Duck for just over a month and I love it. Mom has been looking for limited ingredient treats and these just might fit the bill. Are you concerned at all about the egg whites as an ingredient??
ReplyDeletehugs
Greta
Mr Bailey & Hazel too
I'm not so concerned about the egg whites in a treat since I don't get too many of them (Ma is stingy with the treats around here). The whites are a good source of protein...and they haven't really bothered my chicken allergy (at least not yet).
DeleteAnother great review.
ReplyDeleteSounds great Oz! We tried some cat treats from the same exact company for Honey Delite. Actually, we won the treats from Chewy.com in a giveaway! They were freeze dried raw duck treats, and she did like them a lot.
ReplyDeleteFreeze-dried duck is another favorite around here Miss Ann. I would imagine Honey Delite loved them.
DeleteI have to think that anything wabbit flavor would be pawsome! We eat pretty healthy treats most of the time too, but on occasion every dog needs some junk food too ;)
ReplyDeleteEmma, on the rabbit...I could NOT agree more! BOL We are two big rabbit eaters, you and I.
DeleteRingy Ding Ringy Ding Hello Oz ~ You must have the most defined taste buds in all of Blogville to be our taste tester. Why you are a master of the palate. They sound yummy.
