#ScoopThatPoop: Poop Hunt

Hello, fellow Poop Scoopers!

In honor of all the Egg Hunts everyone has been on, my fellow #ScoopThatPoop hosts, Sugar the Golden Retriever and My Pawsitively Pets, and I thought it would be fun to have a Poop Hunt.  Now, I gotta tell ya...I did NOT need to hunt long in my neighborhood to find unscooped poop.

It's sad, really.  We've noticed over the last month or so that many more people in or neighborhood are not picking up the poop.  We even caught a lady walking (with a leash and collar in hand, on the telephone) while her dog was on the other side of the street pooping on our neighbors' lawns!

There's poop everywhere; it's gross and it makes us so mad.  So, you know what we did, right?

Yep!  Ma updated our #ScoopThatPoop Signs and we have been out flagging poop!  I say thank dog for a good printer, some kitchen skewers and duct tape.  We are on Poop Patrol every day.

Do you need some #ScoopThatPoop signs?  If so, CLICK HERE - the link will open our signs on Google Docs for you to download to your computer.  Then you can flag poop too!

Oh...and speaking of Poop Patrol...have you heard about the new Poop Patrol Campaign by our friends at Earth Rated?  It is terrierific!

The Poop Patrol campaign is organizing volunteers to clean up local dog parks and people parks so they can remain clean and fun places for all of us to play.  Earth Rated is looking for heroes...trustworthy volunteers who will suggest a local dog park and organize the clean up.  They will be choosing individuals or groups that they think will be able to accomplish this Poop Patrol task.  Anyone can submit an entry...so if you have a park you want to enter into the contest CLICK HERE

Are you a Scooper Hero?  Are you going to start flagging unscooped poop?
Do you need some extra paws when scooping poop?  Then check out our giveaways!

The Fifth Paw has provided their super cool poop bag holder...for when you need "an extra paw to help hold the doody".  You know you've seen Sugar with The Fifth Paw on her leash and now I have one too!  It holds the used poop bags out of the way of your Ma or Daddy-dog's hand by attaching to your leash.

We also have Earth Rated poop bags to giveaway too!  They are Ma's favorite poop bag.  BOL  We love both these GREAT  products and you will too so enter the giveaway for a chance to win!

  2. There is only one thing which is worse than not scooping poop. It's when peeps scooping the poop in a bag and then throw the bag away on the grass. Yikes. I will never disappear.

  3. I watched a neighbor walk away from poop last week (she also had one of her dogs illegally unleashed- why only break one law, right?) so I shouted across the street "do you need a bag?" She grumbled "no, I have a bag" and very reluctantly went back to do the right thing.

The community poop bag station that I made last fall is alive and well and full of bags! I need to put some new staples into it and redo the signs. Since that one seems to be a success, I think it's time to spread some more around the neighborhood. Maybe the lady I shouted at last week will get the hint!

  4. Oz you should visit me once, then we could place a gazillion of green signs. It's a bad thing when you found the brown "eggs" everywhere.

  5. It is very frustrating to see all the un-scooped poops this time of year as everyone starts getting back out again! It makes the poop-scoopers look bad too, as it makes people dislike ALL dog walkers.

  6. Oz, your Poop Patrol is excellent! Come to Scotland; you'd have HEAPS of fun and HEAPS of signs to print off! Your egg hunt is the most imaginative I've seen today! Good job!

  14. Sad, but for the most part it takes personal shaming. Around here most people ignore the signs.

  21. Good post, Oz! Luckily there isn't much poop lying around in our area. In the snow it was bad, but now people are back scooping.

  22. We have noticed some poop scooping businesses advertised on craigslist. We have contemplated sending them to knock on our neighbors door. We purposely kept the grandpeeps eggs a distance away from the fence line between our yards cause it is gross on their side.

  23. Your signs are great, Oz, what a super idea! That is a cool contest that Earth Rated is doing too. I live in a pretty rural area so we don't really have a problem where I walk....though I do occasionally see some. If I start to see more when we start walking more this spring, I might just print out your signs.

  24. How sad that the poop scooping is getting worse in your neighborhood :( Do you think people would deliberately not scoop the poop just to mock the signs? I wonder. I guess I wouldn't put it past some people. Love the signs though, they look great!

  25. Your signs are great and I give you credit for going all out and printing them out and putting them out, people need to know that leaving your poop behind is just wrong. More people should be like you and help get the word out there. I hope your neighborhood gets with it and helps out. Have a great night.

  26. I'm so thankful that we live in a rural area, because we don't have to worry about a neighbor's dog pooping in our yard. Coyotes and deer, yes, but not dogs :)

There are places I stopped walking, because of the amount of poop dog owners leave behind.

  27. I love your signs! That is terrific! I made some with the laws of letting your dog run loose for my neighborhood! I don't want to run into poop or an unattended strange dog! Ugh!

  28. Hey Oz! Jake and I are going on a poop hunt today. Sometimes I feel I am the only one in my neighborhood that scoops. But I bring the Poop PAC with us, so carrying scooped poop is a breeze! (relatively speaking). If you haven't heard of the Poop Pac, checkout my review at www.hikingwithfido.com. Happy Tuesday!

  29. Wow I can't believe people just leave the mess. For the most part the people around here are pretty good at scooping.

  30. I definitely want to be entered in this giveaway. I have five rescued Treeing Walker Coonhounds and always keep poop bags with me when I walk them. I'm not keen on having to carry used bags with me, so the "Fifth Hand" would really be helpful for me. I am also a volunteer rescue transport driver, and we give all the dogs potty breaks at our hand-offs to the next driver. Our hand-offs tend to be at public places - businesses, forest preserve parking lots, etc. It is our responsibility to pick up after the dogs. There have been some drivers on other transports who didn't pick up after the dogs and the businesses no longer allow their locations to be used for hand-offs. Even if I didn't believe in picking up after the dogs, we really had no other option. It frustrates me when I see dog poop at our hand-offs, and it isn't always from the rescue dogs being transported, but from dogs belonging to people who are traveling, etc.
