What's warm in the Winter and cool in the Summer? A Kumfy Tailz Harness! Since the weather has been getting quite warm
down here in South Florida, I have been wearing my Kumfy Tailz harness quite
often.
Kumfy Tailz was inspired by hot/cold therapy wraps for
humans. It incorporates patented gel
pack technology to deliver either warmth or cooling to a dog. Kumfy Tailz is the first harness to
specifically address canine physiology - targeting our chest and abdominal region
where we lose and gain heat most. That
is why the Kumfy Tailz harness is a bit longer than most harnesses; it covers
your entire belly for optimum cooling/warming.
I wore my Kumfy Tailz harness when we were out in Big Cypress National Preserve, when we went biking along Lake Okeechobee and even
when we recently went camping! It is
super easy to get on and it is a sturdy harness with a d-ring for your leash,
great for hiking or just lounging around.
How does Kumfy Tailz work?
Like I said, it is super easy. You just warm or cool the Kumfy Pax and place
it in the Kumfy Pouch in the harness.
You put your warm or cool harness on and off you go!
The Kumfy Pax is a puncture-resistant nylon/pvc packet
filled with gel that can be warmed in the microwave or cooled in your
freezer. After about an hour in the
freezer (or less than a minute in the microwave), the Kumfy Pax is ready.
On our recent adventures, we kept the Kumfy Pax in the
cooler filled with ice. We took it
straight from the freezer to the cooler and it stayed pretty cold. When I needed to cool down, it did the job
perfectly.
Even better, you won't get all wet when wearing the Kumfy
Tailz to cool down. The Kumfy Pouch is
made of a special material which is designed to prevent condensation from
reaching your skin. This is great for me
because I hate being wet!
Get Your Own Kumfy Tailz
Kumfy Tailz harnesses come in several colors including
black, blue, red and pink. There are 5
sizes of Kumfy Tailz, from XX-small to Large, and sizing is important. The website has a great sizing chart and
instructions on how to measure yourself for the perfect fit. The harness retails for about $39.95 and it
comes with 1 Kumfy Pax. You can purchase
additional Kumfy Pax separately (I have two so I can switch them out if
needed).
If you enjoy being outside during the hot days of Spring and
Summer, or even the cooler days of Fall and Winter, then you should definitely
consider getting a Kumfy Tailz. It will
help you stay at a comfortable temperature any time of year.
When would you wear a Kumfy Tailz harness?
Do you think you could use it on your next
adventure?
Hmmm... I wore a harness once. ONCE. Didn't go so well. Squirmed out of that harness, lickety-split!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
BOL! I have squirmed out of harnesses too but not this one.
DeleteYou know that is something to consider. The heat isn't as much of an issue but cold packs could be quite helpful.
ReplyDeleteBailey, they really helped keep me cool while we were hiking and biking. They were very helpful indeed.
Deletethat is a great idea. us pugs get hot very very fast when we are out walking and running around wif our mom. We have harnesses that look just like yours only it doesn't have a freezer section. We like that idea!!!!
ReplyDeleteStella Rose
Oh Stella Rose, you should definitely look into getting the Kumfy Tailz especially if you are prone to overheating! It really helps!
DeleteHow smart is that? We think it will be very smart when we are going camping. Sniff and wags from Laika and Vaks.
ReplyDeleteIt works well camping too. It doesn't get as cold in the cooler but it did the job!
DeleteThat's a pretty neat idea. Black-coated Jimmy really suffers in the summer sun/heat.
ReplyDeleteAs do I...dark coat and a double coat! The Kumfy Tailz really helps you stay cool!
Deleteit's a great idea to add a gel packet to a harness and without getting wet, wow! I'm not really the guy for a harness because of my deep chest, what makes it difficult to wear a harness. but it's a super idea, specially in summer! 4 paws for Kumfy tailz harness!
ReplyDeleteOh but Easy, you could probably wear this one as it comes with buckle EXTENDERS to help get the perfect fit around the chest!
DeleteOz every single time my Mom sees your sweet fluffy face and smile she squeals Oh I wish I could hug Oz......geez the woman has a serious crush on you!!
ReplyDeleteMOL MOL
Hugs madi your bfff
Oh Madi, you are making me blush! That is so sweet! You know my mom just loves those little pink toesies of yours!
DeleteDing Dong Sweet William calling ~ Why that is interesting. Being black I do seem to over heat on our walks in the summer. They should make a nice plaid print for Scots. Lee says she is going to check this one out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend
Sweet William
The Scot
Well, yes...if only there was a plaid for we Scottish lads, Sir William. But I bet the red one would be dashing on you! I sure hope your Lee checks it out and gets you one. It makes a big difference, my pal.
DeleteWhat a great idea. I wish we would have known about these harnesses when Pip was with us. The heat really bothered him.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least now you know about it just in case Ruby doesn't tolerate the heat well!
DeleteThat is quite the good idea Oz and no wonder it is so comfy!
ReplyDeleteI bet the kitties would love it as a warmer, Brian.
DeleteThat is a great idea Oz as over here it is unusually hotter than Italy or Greece. Must see if they have something similar this side of the pond. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Oh, yes that is true Molly. I sure hope there is something similar...or maybe they will ship directly to you?!? You should check.
Deletethat looks like a great idea - I am always worried about the boyos over heating.....but.....does it matt the fur? does it feel bulky between their legs....I have visions of them walking like they have a diaper on in front :) And does it chafe ...Denny has a problems with harnesses chafing his - don't know why..I guess his skin in sensitive...have tried all kinds on his at the moment he has one that is wrapped in lambs wool but it is hot on him
ReplyDeleteOK...1) No, it doesn't matte the fur, at least not mine because my fur is thinner on my belly than on my back. 2) I didn't walk like it was bulky or anything...it is a bit thicker (as in deeper off the belly) than a regular harness because of the pocket but it isn't wider or uncomfortable...3) It didn't chafe me at all. It doesn't squirm around like other harnesses tend to do. This is a breathable material as well...sort of a mesh, if you will...but the pocket where the cooling pack goes is lined.
DeleteWe only wear a harness in the car (our seat belts) or when working (nose work or tracking). Those harnesses are all special designs for their purpose. We have our Kool Kollars for when it is hot out, they are a bit like your harness except we can put real ice in there if we want. Stay cool, my furfriend!
ReplyDeleteI saw the cool collars Emma, but I think the problem was they didn't come in my size. The harness works well for me and I am glad you all have something to keep you cool as well.
DeleteOh hey what a great idea!!!!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a great review!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Mr. N has a cooling coat but he does get a little wet in the process of wearing it. That harness looks neat!
ReplyDeleteWOW…. you are a real "star". You must be rich wiff all your ads. I tell everyone I know dat I know Oz and dey all seem to be impressed.
ReplyDeleteWags,
Ranger
Pees….. who won da limerick contest?
Would you believe it-we still have some snowbirds left? All the Canadians are gone because of time restrictions but They just talked to one from Iowa yesterday and the neighbors from northern Minnesota leave next week.
ReplyDeleteThat is awfully neat-o. We need those
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
looks like a great harness
ReplyDeleteretro rover
Now this looks like a great harness. we pugs do tend to overheat easily and one of these would be great for camping in the warmer weather for sure
ReplyDeletehugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Greta
I definitely need one of those, will have to see if we can get them here
ReplyDeleteHmmmm…Mama's been thinking of getting me and Nalle harnesses again. Woooooowooooo, Ku
ReplyDeleteWhen I took Shiver to the groomer to get his nails trimmed a few times ago, she suggested I use a harness on him. I've been thinking about it, and will have to look for this kind.
ReplyDeleteI thought that harness was pretty cool now I know it was really cool and can keep you warm too. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think the harness has a perfect name because it certainly looks very KUMFY!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Bentley would love to have a cool wrap on his belly during our 100+ days. Louisiana and Florida can be grueling during the summer!
ReplyDeleteOh Oz what a great idea! I would love to try one of those I get so hot! Good job and you look adorable. Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous harness Oz. Sounds very practical and I like the color on you.
ReplyDeleteWe won one of these last year, and I used it for Kobi during the summer to keep him cooler. I never did try it in the winter, but the cold doesn't really seem to bother our dogs much. I will have to get that out again for this summer, if it ever gets hot!
ReplyDeleteLuk very good Oz my pal….I fink Lola need a new arness so we see if they haz em in da UK
