5 Simple Gifts to Give Your Pet this Valentine's Day #LakesideValentine

Have your pet parents started making your plans for Valentine's Day?  If so, I hope they find ways to include you in their celebrations.

We pets provide unconditional love to our pet parents 24-7, 365 days a year and don't (usually) ask for anything in return except maybe a warm spot to sleep and meals to fill our bellies.  That's why Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to give your pet some extra affection and attention.

Pets don't need fancy gifts, we don't care much for flowers and we cannot have chocolate so what gift can a pet parent give their pet?

5 Simple Gifts to Give Your Pet on Valentine's Day
1.  A Special Walk:  enjoy a peaceful walk with your dog in a new part of your neighborhood, at a park or even a dog-friendly indoor venue.

2.  A New Toy:  a bouncing ball, a squeaky stuffy, one of those  feather-thingys for your cat or even one of my new favorites, the PULLER, which is great for a few games of tug.

3.  Extra Play Time:  is it too cold outside for a long walk?  Then why not have a great play session right in the house.  I do so enjoy a good game of chase-around-the-dining-room-table!

4.  A Homemade Treat:  do you bake?  Can you cook?  There are some great pet-friendly treat recipes out there!  My friend Sugar the Golden Retriever has some top notch recipes on her blog!

5.  A Quiet Cuddle:  why not just sit and relax with your pet.  Give them some extra belly rubs and ear scratches...and of course, a big hug.

And here is a fun way to start off your Valentine's Day celebrations - the Paws and Kisses Pet Photo Contest from The Lakeside Collection.  First Place will be awarded to the Cutest Dog and the Cutest Cat and each will receive a $100 Lakeside gift certificate.  Runners-up (3 dog and 3 cat) will receive a $25 Lakeside gift certificate.

All you need to do to enter is to visit Paws and Kisses Pet Photo Contest Page at The Lakeside Collection between now and February 15 to upload your photo!  You can also enter via Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #LakesideValentine.

How will you celebrate Valentine's Day with your pet?

  6. Well, with 2 kids at the house my hubby and I don't really do much on Valentines Day, so we will be spending it at home with the pups. Of course I have to try and find some yummy heart shaped treats and toys! BOL!
