July is Pet Hydration Awareness Month.
Here we are in the Dog Days of Summer so I would like to remind you about the importance of proper hydration for your pet!
Drinking Water is a very important part of your pet’s daily requirements and overall nutrition. Water is the main component of healthy, living cells of the body. Your pet's body is made up of 80% water and without the proper amount of drinking water, your pet’s body will dehydrate and thus, will not be able to function properly.
Your pet needs approximately one ounce of water per pound of body weight daily to stay hydrated and healthy. Of course, depending on the weather and your pet's activity level, your pet may need more than the above amount to meets its daily intake need.
Here are 5 Ways Water Keeps Your Pet Healthy
- Water moves important nutrients in and out of the body's cells.
- Water aids in digestion.
- Water helps regulate body temperature.
- Water lubricates joints.
- Water removes wastes from the body.
My friends at PetSafe created this great infographic to help you remember how much water your pet needs as well as the signs and symptoms of Pet Dehydration.

ReplyDeleteLots of bloggers are going to be giving one away later in the month. We will be giving one away either the end of July or beginning of August, fyi.
DeleteBailie and I both drink a lot of water. Katie has never been one to drink much.
ReplyDeleteThere is some advice that I could use for myself BOL! I am horrible at drinking water, because I just don't like it =/ I remember this infographic and it's a good one!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! We ALL need to stay hydrated!
ReplyDeleteCammie!
water does such great things for the body, love the infographic
ReplyDeleteWe are all good about drinking our water here. We have a total of 4 water dishes in the house and two plus the kiddie pool outside in the summer. Luke especially loves his water...though he tends to dribble it all over the house too!
ReplyDeleteLots of wags and woofs from the crew at Wag n Woof Pets
Great Tips Oz! Mom keeps three separate containers of water in different places in the house fur us and one outside just to make sure we don't dehydrate :)
ReplyDeleteYou're very wise Oz! Kitties need water too so we have glasses all over the house just for us since we refuse to drink from bowls! :)
ReplyDeleteBut not too much water all at once. Best spread it out over the course of the day. :)
