National Pet Travel Safety Day is recognized every year on January 2 (today). The goals of this day are to highlight the dangers of unsecured pets in vehicles and educate pet parents about how to make travel safer for them and their pets. To help spread the word about pet travel safety, I created the infographic below. ReplyDeleteToo many of our trips are to the v-e-t or the fur thief. You forgot to say that there should be a more than sufficient supply of bird seed in the vehicle.

I didn't realize that there was such a thing as National Pet Travel Safety Day! These are all excellent tips, especially that last one.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get the chance to travel too much with our pets at the moment, but when we do go in the car or truck, the dogs love it!! It's great that they have a National Pet Travel Safety Day.

ReplyDeleteThese are some great tips. Bentley and Pierre ride in their kennel in the back of our SUV. Bentley is not one to leisurely ride in the back seat. He will choke himself trying to climb over to the front! You might need to have a talk with him on proper etiquette, Oz.

ReplyDeleteNow that we have four dogs, the only traveling I do is locally (to the vet, to the park, to a play date). When I recently bought a car, I had the dogs in mind and explained my needs to our salesman and he was fantastic at helping me select the right car.
ReplyDeleteDespite the fact that I don't do a lot of traveling, your tips apply to me as well; especially keeping the dogs in the back.

ReplyDeleteThere is a new, local ad here for one of the car dealerships. The family who just bought a new car is shown carefully buckling a baby into her carseat, then the two adults get into the front. As they pull away, they show a little dog ON THE DRIVER'S LAP!!!!!! Oh, it makes our mom's head explode!!!

It drives me crazy to see people driving with their animals in their laps. One short stop and it is possible to lose your pet. I ask people if they would like to wear their pets if the airbag imploded?
