Despite not being able to get near any of the dog-friendly restaurants on Sanibel Island last weekend, I was able to enjoy dinner out with Ma and Daddy-dog at a restaurant right down the road from our hotel. We ate at Gator Bites Tail & Ale.
Gator Bites Tail & Ale is a popular, casual restaurant located in a Publix strip mall a few miles east of Sanibel Island. And yes...they actually serve Gator Bites! We tried the Golden Breaded Gator Bites appetizer and do you know what? It tastes just like chicken.
If you are ever in Fort Myers and would like to stop for a reasonably priced lunch or dinner, we recommend visiting Gator Bites Tail & Ale and their dog-friendly outdoor patio seating. You should also try the Gator Bites appetizer or one of the other items made with alligator tail meat. I bet you will like it!
Thank you to Sugar and Nola for hosting Black & White Sunday.
We will have to keep that in mind if we visit that area - thanks for the tip
ReplyDeleteWe tried it years ago on a visit to Florida, and it wasn't too great. Maybe they didn't know how to prepare it right.
ReplyDeleteWe would stop because it is dog friendly!
ReplyDeleteIf it's cheap and tastes like chicken, it's chicken.
ReplyDeleteWe are with Hailey and Phod...we would also stop because it's dog friendly!!

I love alligator bites. We have several restaurants that serve them but none are dog-friendly.
ReplyDeleteWe're sold! We think we'd love them.
ReplyDeleteI had gator when I lived in New Orleans many years ago. It does taste like chicken!
ReplyDeleteWe know where that is, never went there, though. I like gator treats.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun Oz, going out to eat with the folks is the best! I've had alligator treats before and like them but mom doubts she would like the gator bites, the smell of my treats were awful! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found a dog friendly place! I don't know...I'm not real adventurous when it comes to food, though I'm sure the dogs would be up for it! :)

ReplyDeleteI am going to have to try some gator! I had no idea it tastes like chicken! Thanks for letting us know!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed them, but I have to admit that I am not sure about trying them myself.
ReplyDeleteI love gator bites (as in the food) what fun!
