Have you ever wondered who takes more photos on their phone – cat owners or dog owners? I checked Ma and Daddy-dog’s phone and quite frankly, they take a lot of photos of me so I would venture to guess that dog owners take a lot of photos of their dogs.
MiMedia recently asked the same question and conducted a nationwide study looking at digital trends around dogs and cats. They were curious about different pet owners’ media sharing habits and how much storage space pet photos take up on owners’ digital devices. The findings, from a sample of 1,000 pet owners, were quite impressive. Let’s take a look at Cat Owners vs. Dog Owners:
Cat owners take an average of 4-5 photos of their pet per day, taking up 3.03 GB per year.
Dog owners take an average of 2 photos of their pet a day, which takes up 1.21 GB per year.
10 percent of Dog owners take more than 2 videos of their pet a week,
40 percent of which are over 11 seconds.
Only 7 percent of Cat owners take more than 2 videos of their pet a week,
30 percent of which are over 11 seconds.
40 percent of both Cat and Dog owners (Ma included) have run out of storage on their smartphones.
Sharing is Caring – 42 percent of all dog and cat videos/photos that are taken are shared on social media!
Have you checked your pet parents’ phones for photos of you lately? I bet there are a lot of photos of you on there. Do your pet parents fall within the above statistics from the MiMedia study?

We dogs are about the only thing Mom uses her phone camera for, and then, usually just a short video. Sure have to worry about cats getting a bit too many photos these days! Dogs need to rule the world!
