Memorial Day is a time to honor the men and women who have died while serving our country in the U.S. military. It is a time of remembrance though many of us also use it to unofficially welcome in summer by holding barbecues, going to parades and watching fireworks.
While some of us may be playing host/hostess others will be travelling to visit friends or family or even heading to a weekend adventure. If you are planning to bring your pet along, you will want to be mindful and prepare to keep your pets safe and secure.

When travelling with your pet to Memorial Day celebrations or adventures, be sure to secure your pet in the vehicle for its own safety. Whenever and wherever we travel, Oz is always in the back seat comfortably secured with his Sleepypod Clickit Sport harness. The Clickit Sport’s unique Infinitely Loop is much easier to use than the original Clickit harness attachments and with its 3-point seatbelt contact, it provides excellent support and protection.
To keep your Memorial Day travels safe for your pet we are once again sharing our 6 Tips for Pet Travel Safety infographic. The safety tips will not only help keep your travels safe, it will help keep your celebrations safe too.
No matter where you are headed, remember these other tips to keep your Memorial Day celebrations safe for your pet:
- Use pet-friendly insect repellants to keep pests from bothering your pet;
- Keep table food and alcoholic beverages out of your pet’s reach; and
- Keep your pet on a secure leash while at parades and other public celebrations.
We are wishing you all a safe Memorial Day weekend!
I hope all will have a good memorial day weekend... paws crossed for resonsible pet pawrents and no traffic jams on the streets...
ReplyDeleteI usually put Winston in a crate when we travel, but I have not yet found a good way to secure the crate. I've even thought about trying bungee cords! Maybe I'll give this a try instead of the crate. Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend.

ReplyDeleteI've read about those clickit seatbelts but our vehicles are too ancient to be able to use them. We have older seatbelts but they seem to work pretty well. Great post!!! I wish more people would seat belt their dogs like you, Oz!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
