Oz finally made it back to Georgia this past weekend where he joined Georgia State Parks adventure dog club, Tails on Trails. One of the parks in the Club, High Falls State Park, was near the other park where we camped so we made a quick drive there last Sunday, joined the club and prepared for our hike. We were sharing our entire trip on social media and that is how our good friend Rocco Havanese from To Dog With Love knew he could meet us there.
Rocco and his mom live in Georgia and are members of the Tails on Trails Club too. They have hiked 6 of the 7 designated trails along with their friends and their dogs Cody and Bingo. They were so excited to find out we were at High Falls State Park on the same day they had planned to go as well.
Rocco and his friends let us join their hiking pack for the morning to hike the Falls Trail. The Falls Trail is a moderately challenging trek through the hilly forests with several surprise views of the waterfall at the end. It is a 1.5 mile hike if you stick to the marked trail but we wandered a little off course for a bit, which was just as fun even when we had to double back.
We had a great time hiking the trails in the two Georgia State Parks we visited this past weekend especially when we got to hike with friends on Sunday. We will be sharing about both parks in upcoming posts.
The Tails on Trails Club at Georgia State Parks challenges hikers and their dogs to hike seven designated trails at seven different parks. Membership Cards are available at participating State Parks for $15. Once all 7 hikes are completed, dogs earn a bandana and their owners earn a t-shirt. You can see the seven designated Tails on Trails Club park trails in my “Georgia State Parks to Launch New Adventure Dog Club” post or by visiting the Club Page on Georgia State Parks website.
