If you are like us, you probably think that every day is Love Your Pet Day. Pets deserve our love every day of the year. Oz definitely gets a lot of LOVE and attention from us every day so much so he sometimes tells us he has had enough love for one day.
Since it is National Love Your Pet Day today, we think it is a good opportunity to give your pet some extra LOVE and attention. Try and spend more time together and do something you both LOVE.
1. Walk a new path.
Instead of taking the same route for your morning, afternoon or evening walk, try a new one. Exploring new areas together is fun and will help strengthen your bond.
2. Schedule a play-date.
Does your pet like to play with other pets? Does your pet have a special friend? Then schedule a play date so the two of them can have some fun together.
3. Make homemade treats.
Homemade treats are a fun way to show your pets your love. Even if you are not the best “cook” you can find simple recipes to make your pet something special. We highly recommend our good friend Sugar the Golden Retriever's book, Cooking for Sugar, for DELISH dog treat recipes.
4. Cuddle with your pet.
When you give your pet cuddles with some gentle pats and strokes, ear scratches and/or a belly rub, you both become more relaxed and feel less stressed.
5. Donate to a pet charity.
Make a donation and help a homeless pet find a home full of LOVE.

ReplyDeleteWe just had a usual day, but there is typically plenty of love every day. With Mom's broken ankle, we can't do anything to out of the ordinary for a while.

Those are all great ideas! We try to do most of those things, but sometimes the Momz is a slacker and needs to be reminded (except for the cuddling - I always remember that!).
