New Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Safety Harness for Active Dogs #BeSleepypodSafe

During our trip to Global Pet Expo last week, Oz and I visited Sleepypod's booth where we learned about their new product, the Clickit Terrain Car Safety Harness for Dogs.

This post is sponsored by Sleepypod. Sleepypod is an Oz the Terrier Sponsor and I am being compensated for sharing information about Sleepypod products but Oz the Terrier only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Sleepypod is not responsible for the content of this article.

Now, you may not be able to tell from the photo above of Oz and Duke, but Oz is wearing his Clickit Sport safety harness while Duke is wearing the new Clickit Terrain safety harness. From the front, the two harnesses look very much the same and they both include many of the same Sleepypod safety features including:
  • Crash testing for use as a pet seat belt
  • Strength testing for use as a walking harness
  • 3-point design for use in rear passenger seat that secures a dog's entire torso
  • Broad, cushioned, energy-absorbing vest for safety and
  • Quick connection and release when used as a pet seat belt.

What's new is that Clickit Terrain is designed with working and active dogs in mind. It combines Sleepypod's award-winning travel safety technology with enhanced safety, comfort and control features for sustained daily use. Additional features include:
  • Shock absorbing sleeves
  • High strength metal slide buckles
  • Rear reflective patches for night visibility which can be interchanged for service patches and
  • Optional Terrain Pack - a dog backpack with handle that provides extra control to the handler.

Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Car Safety Harness for Dogs was crash tested at the standard set for child safety restraints. Using new crash test dog, Duke 2.0, Sleepypod was able to receive chest force data from load sensors in Duke's chest to measure the forces of a forward collision. You can learn more about how Duke 2.0 works (and what his insides look like) in the video below.

The crash tests revealed that Clickit Terrain delivers higher performance results and reduces the crash forces on a dog's chest area by 10 percent. "Clickit Terrain offers unparalleled protection for dogs who travel in cars," says Micheal Leung, Sleepypod co-founder and lead product designer. "In order to reduce accident injuries, there needs to be measurable data to assist in creating a safer product design. Clickit Terrain excels in its ability to absorb kinetic energy while keeping the pet from accelerating forward and leaving the seat."

Sleepypod Clickit Terrain comes in the same four colors as the rest of the Clickit line - Jet Black, Strawberry Red, Orange Dream and Robin Egg Blue. I will say that a little birdie told me that sometime this year, Sleepypod will be unveiling a new color (though we do not know what color it will be)! The new Clickit Terrain Car Safety Harness for Dogs is available at Sleepypod.com/shop and will start shipping in June 2017.

What do you think of the new Sleepypod Clickit Terrain travel safety harness for working and active dogs?

  6. Lightning manages to free himself from all safety harnesses in the car. He just steps on the seat belt release button and boom he is free. Wish we could find a resolution to that. This safety harness looks like a great one for dogs (other than silly Lightning). Mom might look at one for Misty.

  10. I love it! The boys ride in their kennel but my daughter's dog was in their car when it was involved in an accident last week. Thankfully, she was fine but I need to buy her a Sleepypod Clickit.

  11. OZ Wow that is most interesting. When I ride in the car (which thankfully is not often) I'm in my PTU and mom has a seat belt around it.

  13. Not only is this absolutely adorable, but I LOVE that it's cushioned! I have a travel harness for my dogs but it's not cushioned at all and I think it's pretty uncomfortable for them. I'd love one like this. Oh, and Oz couldn't look any cuter in orange! Thanks for sharing.
